What is the Hand Correction Service?
Isn’t editing an image and the Hand Correction Service the same thing?
Not really. Editing an image is very different from having an image go through our hand correction service. Editing applies corrections that are made to the photo as a whole. These edits include color (white balance), contrast, saturation, clipping, sharpening, etc. These photos are suitable for viewing, but we wouldn’t consider them final images.
Our Hand Correction Service applies corrections to very specific areas of each photo individually. Some of these corrections include removing litter, facial acne, special effects, adjusting an image creatively, etc. Hand corrected images are what makes our brand so unique at Adam and Claudia Photography.
Anybody and everyone can get a photographer to edit a photo, but the hand correction phase is the part most photographers leave out of their workflow because it is so time consuming. This wouldn’t be a problem except that the camera companies make cameras that expect the images will be corrected to some extent. You’ll notice that the “out of camera” photos below are very plain and unattractive in terms of color and that “wow” factor.
Is this service really necessary and worth the extra cost per image?
In short, that’s up to you. We have had clients in the past be very happy with images that had only been through our editing phase. We prefer and encourage the hand correction service though, simply because the adjustments make the images look amazing.
Remember these are your memories. You’ll keep these photos for many years and might pass them down as a way for your family to remember you. Wouldn’t you want all your photos to look their absolute best 10 or 20 years from now?
What does the Hand Correction Service look like?
Take a look at the examples below. Each photo was corrected in a different way, specific to the characteristics of each image. The hand corrected photos are the epitome of our brand at Adam and Claudia Photography.
